yes what you say missy is quite correct, and i know of a lot of towns in uk where its so clear you pick out your own house and street names are clear to read. If you take it that if camera at the height it is has a span of say 1000 miles then times it has to travel around the globe it would be that each particular position is taken every three months, so to aleviate that i think they use more than one camera and it could be different focus on different cameras are the reason why some are clear and others not. the military use this system i believe , so the problem doesn't arrive for them I have read they can actually read your door number whether they can see through it makes for thought.

You have choices about roads. You can switch them off.
The resolution varies from place to place - there are obvious priorities. Detail of places in China is often good but shite if you look at some small island in the Pacific. Remember that there is an American political and military agenda! My house, for example, is clear because i used to be in CND and am obviously up to no good.
Look at London, New York or Paris - they are all pretty good. Oxford, however, is quite dreadful.

the maps are made up from a collection of different satalites around the world. some are clearer than others. they tend to be blurred around airports, army bases and other places that are security sensitive.

they haven't mapped the entore planet in high detail yet, just a few of the major citeis and a bit of countryside here and there.
Go to San Francisco to see a decent level of detail for example. and the roads are on, because you must have the checkbox for roads enabled.

I also had this happen to me. Within my own postcoded area it was clear. But blurred further afield. Someone said it was to do with security and privacy. Will look forward to reading other replies

they're not all. if you go to a big city like london or bournemouth then you can see clearly. it is not focused on all the tiny tiny villages etc. because that would cost more (and it is free to the public), look at new york, its even in 3D!
