Initially Chaotic, but environmentally quite pleasant.

For awhile certainly "WE" would be in the dark, so to speak, but within the ranges of technological advances we endure so far, there would be those who would once again rise to power, and control alternative fuel sources.

On a happier note, for me at least, it would afford us ways to better use latent skills, and inert intuitions. I suspect the species would survive, albeit in a completely different world than we know today.

Most nations who aren't now would become agrarian, and CORN, etc, would likely be the New way to become a "Beverly Hillbilly"

As a species, even those of us remedial, and not inclined toward Science would "FIND a WAY" and eventually evolve again, and be in a similar situation, served by the POWERS.

All that said, and likely most disagreed with here, I for one would most definitely MAKE my way, though with vast differences in how I'd conduct my life.

Actually your Q isn't really hypothetical, though I don't expect to see an end to Wars fought in the name of the religion known as CRUDE OIL. I won't live long enough to see new eras, and enlightened individuals who are actually heeded, and for that I'm sad.

I should live long enough however to see gasoline at about the same price at the pump, where a weeks salary will match what it takes to fill a cars gas tank. I will likely live long enough to witness more poverty, struggle, declining economies in general, 360 degree spins in how people GET BY,,, some negative.

The Universe is taking care of the details however, and we only "Rent" or borrow "Time" and substance here. What was will be again. What is will change, evolve, revert, endure, triumph on some levels, and I hope, become a Phoenix.

Well there would be no plastic or cars or computers so this website would not exist, a lot of medicial technology would be gone, no bikes either, "terrorists" would not be happy because most weaponry is currently petroleum based. Most things are made to break so most of what we have wouldn't last too long, unless you are talking about a world that started without oil. The air may not be cleaner because we might create something just as bad or worse to meet as much of the energy needs as possible for the planet.

Healthy. Think about it: without oil there will be no pollution the earth will be clean the Ozone will be fine and we will breath a clean air. without oil we will find a new way to get energy just like electricity witch will be safer to use for us. without oil the water of the sea will be clean so we can eat healthy fish. without oil the wars will be much harmless than it is ( less destruction )
And without cooking oil the number of people with high cholesterol will decrease a lot and the number of fat people to.

on the other hand loosing oil will take the middle east to the stone age. But i can't imagine any other problems will cause loosing the oil.

Different! and yet the same! There would still be wars, and commerce would still go on. It would just be based on a different energy source.

You would have cartels trying to patent and then charge for sunlight as an alternate fuel source.
