I was wondering because I seriously doubt that someone can take control of my mind, but you never know.

Hypnotism is a genuine activity and most - not all - people can be hynoptized. It is not some evil "mind control," and people who really don't want to act on a hynotic suggestion will not be foreced to do things.

"Suggestibility," to the openness of an individual to suggestion, affects the availability of anyone to hypnosis. Imaginative people are frequently much more suggestible than others, for example. I have expereinced hypnosis to help me work on eating habits and smoking - it is not some magic reversal of inclinations and habits, but rather a refinforcement of a desire to do what I wish. I saw that some people who were not very suggestible first did a series of exercises to help them relax and feel more comfortable with hypnosis before they were able to undergo the procedure.

The hypnotist never "takes control" of your mind. If there is a time when you think hypnosis could be useful to you, then you will find yourself able to do it. And if you just plain don't want that to happen, then it never will.

I read a book about it some time ago by someone who is a professional hypnotist. In brief, not everyone can be hypnotised. If you're talking about the "shows", you have to be willing to be hypnotised. Also, you can't be forced to do something under hypnosis if you wouldn't do it in "real life', if you follow me. There are exceptions - if you told someone under hypnosis that they were holding a water pistol ( when it was a real gun) and told them to fire it at a person, they would do so thinking it was a toy.

Not everyone can be subjected to hypnosis simply because some people are just more open or more receptive to the idea.

When you want to be subjected to hypnosis, it can help to clear your mind and try to focus and relax.
