I think it's so wrong to be playing with satanic things that I've never watched it and never will!!
p.s. I used to love horror films, but then decided why watch something that's gonna make me want an escort to the toliet/shower/lshopping etc... I have a very active imagination!!

I don't know about scary, more bloody revolting, like looking at a car wreck, blood spattered bodies ripped apart over the burning wreck of the car, the image printed indeliably on the back of your retina - not the kind of thing that you really forget.
Did you know though, that the set for the bedroom, was actually a large freezer, like a meat freezer, and that is how they got the effect of her breathing like that. I seem to remember that the room was on some kind of suspension system to make it move around too.
At the end of the day, if you can look through the special effects and see it for what it is, i.e. an actress in a horrible mask, some old woman's voice recorded at a high pitch, and some green gunk which who knows where it came from, you will probably forget about the film all the sooner.
I recommend Finding Nemo as a good cure!

Sure it was scary. As a guy, I tend to be more afraid of the super natural than the real life situations. Maybe testosterone driven, but I could possible be able to defend myself from a crazed mad man serial killer, but a ghost? well whats a fellow to do? Scary is then, more related to the inability to influence the situation around myself. And the Exorcist definitely falls into this catergory.

Superb in its day, I watched it again several weeks ago. It did not have the same effect as when.... The film 'Carrie' still does it for me though, especially the closing scene at the graveside. A change of undies is required every time I watch that bit.

It was scary for me when I saw it as a child in the 70's. but not now. Oddly enough, Pet Semetary by Steven King still freaks me out, though

The only thing I still really like about it is Mercedes McCambride's voice as the demon. I think I have seen too much of a good thing when it comes to the movie. One thing I find freaky though is that my pal's husband looks like Father Damien Karras, so when he turns round and we see him possessed I feel it is Victor.

It was a scary for me once, but now not anymore. You should watch "The Eyes". But not the Hollywood's production, but the one from Hong Kong/Taiwan. Then you would know what spooky is!

I didn't find it scary at all, in fact I found it quite funny! I laughed throughout the film!
