Because she fits the typical male wants and needs in a girlfriend (desi men, mostly); that of being super skinny, and having a pretty face.
It's pathetic how most desi men aren't attracted to a woman who isn't fat, but is nice and curvy. Instead, they're attracted to women who look as if they haven't eaten in days and are nothing but skin and bones.

Because she can dance (and dancing is very sensual), she is unattainable, she has a pleasant face, she wears see through sarees and short cholis, she won an extremely well publicized beauty pagaent, she is crossing from Bollywood to Hollywood (yeah, whatever!), and she's always in the news.
Personally, I don't think she's that incredibly gorgeous. She always looks like she was cryogenically frozen and just recently thawed-- her icy stare is comparable to Medusa. She's 5'7" and weighs like 120 pounds! She's underweight!
Side note! Many of the role she plays are of intelligent women, but they're also innocent and incapable of changing their lives themselves. Desi men desire submissive women.
She's not married.
And I agree with the previous poster, desi men are obsessed with thinner women.

..because she's the very definition of a goddess. Extremely beautiful to a point of perfection, very rich, famous, powerful and successful. She's an independent and strong woman with a mind of her own . ..not a typical kind of gal who clings to men but it is the men who cling to her!!
