Some novels are best read - and should not be ever filmed : I feel that Dan Brown's The Da Vinci Code is one such !
The book was by far more fascinating - as you could read and assimilate all the technical and historical details at your own pace !
Unless one had already read the book, the film would not prove a worthwhile 'see' - because it attempts to condense too much into a time-bound 'package' !
...A collegue of mine, who had not read the book, yawned her way though most of the movie - because she [though an avid movie goer] could not fully follow what was going on !

the book is usually better. in my opinion "The Da Vinci Code" isn't even the best of Dan Brown's novels to have been made into a movie.

I like the book--you always get more insight into the characters and the situation from a book than you can from a movie. After all, you can't fit a whole lot of detail into 2 hours, but you can take your time reading all the details, getting into the mind of the characters, and reading about action which has to be cut from the movie.

Both Great. The Movie wasn't like the book very much, but Tom hanks played Robert Langton very well. I think it is better to read the book first then see the movie...

The book helped me to understand the movie. Looks as if Dan Brown was aiming for it to be made into a movie as it is written like a script & not a book.
Now it's the turn of 'Angels & Demons' Looking forward to it.

The book was great, I couldn't wait to see the movie, then I saw it and was actually bored. Not as detailed and kind of confusing at times. Not as much of an impact either.

I definitely liked the book better. The movie was totally boring, too many long-winded dialouge scenes.
