Your question has been answered: drill lots of holes in stump and then use a strong weed killer. If you can cut the stump down to ground level, once dead you could cover it with mulch and it will eventually rot. If money is no problem it is better to get a tree specialist to kill and remove the stump.

if the stump's still tall enough you could smooth it off and turn it into a rustic garden seat. I don't fancy that other suggestion of digging it up - I had leylandi once and I know they go down deep to say the least.

All of the above will do it, or ge a tree removalist to come over and grind the stump into mulch - plant something, and just watch it grow!

drill numerous holes close together, put in salt or glyphosphate, certainly dont put high nitrogen fertilser and diesel in there as that is and explosive way of getting the stump out and illegal and dangerous
