the hard drive will start crying. (probably that noise you hear) The images is probably something else though, you may want to check for a virus.

I recommend backing up your system (after scanning for virus/etc.) and getting a new hard drive.

Check your Harddrive with "Scandisk" and do a thorough read and write test if you find that you gettig a lot of bad spots on it it is time to replace the HDD sometime do; it is not the hDD screeming it could also be your cd rom. take care. To get Scandisk go to Windows explorer right click on C drive select Properties and choose scandisk ,tick the thorough box and check under advanced that both boxes read and write are selected (do a surface scan). If the bearings are gone it should make noises all times !It would be wise to do some other investgations like Loose Vga card loose Harddrive or even a failing power supply. Also make sure it is not one of your cooling fans screeming till they get a bit of speed, check it all before replacing the Hdd (harddrive)

Hard drives can die at any time, even hard drives that aren't making weird noises. Your best bet is make sure you have recent backups of anything important so you don't lose everything when a hard drive dies. And I say "when" because sooner or later, it WILL happen to you.

The bearings are going. while it still runs, take your PC to a store and buy a new HD, and have them transfer your files. $50-100 bucks.
