i wouldnt have this injection if youpaid me a million punds- alot of people I know have had really bad problems- my advice is on't have it any more- the thing is once you've had it it can take literally years for the effects to wear off which is a bummer but dont do it.
Get to a doctor about your lump.
My friend had depot because it was easy and it made her tummy swell up and she looked like she was pregnante for over 2 years.
So don't go near it- try the pill or have a break from contraception all together espcially after 5 years(you should have a break)- yes its stops you from gettin pregnant but you can use condoms- or there are even contraceptive patches you can get now- good luck

It's nothing compared with your experience, but like some other girls on here, I too came off depo over a year ago, as it was making me feel generally like crap, lifeless, bloated, unmotivated, unhealthy, unfit...

Felt the positive effects immediately after coming off it. Didn't feel bloated any more, although the 1 stone I put on in two years didn't come back off, but I felt happier and had more energy, stamina, etc, overnight.

What insults me is that the medical profession very often trivialises the 'little' symptoms on depo, or for example simply put the weight gain down to increased eating. I am very aware of what I eat, and used to eat a lot of food every day, to suit the very large appetite I had, and was always very slim. I had the same appetite and food intake when on depo, but watched the weight slide on, and tried all sorts of healthy methods of shedding the weight through proper diet and exercise, with no success. But now after a whole year off the hormones, I am just now beginning to lose it a little bit.

A nurse giving me a depo shot once told me off after I asked about the weight gain aspect and what I could do to help, and just snarled at me 'you're not fat!'. I replied I knew I wasn't fat, just wanted a bit of advice. She didn't answer me. It may only be 1 stone, and not mean much to her, but I had a huge self-image problem at the time, and I was gobsmacked at her attitude.

After two years of feeling lousy on the depo, I did some research on it, and found wesites in America where they had done research into it. So many of my experiences tied in. People have to buy their own shots over there, so they get the accompanying leaflets with it, which I found online too. Amazing isn't it, that I don't take an aspirin without reading the leaflet, yet let someone inject me with something I knew nothing about for two years! Apparently it is common to put on 5lbs for every year you are on it, and there are also a host of other side effects that go with depo. Many many people listed their experiences on a forum, and it made scary reading.

Anyway, I'm single at the moment, but in future I'm not sure what I'll do. Perhaps the cap or something. I can't face doing the artificial hormone thing ever again, my health is too important. I'm lucky I didn't get any serious problems, so I wouldn't try it again.

Good luck with your treatment.

I was on it for seven years and for the last two years started to feel generally not right. I had blood tests and the results were that I had very low oestrogen levels, not good. Since then i've come off it and gone back to pill and feel much better.I agree with some of the other answers, come of it and have a break or use another menthod. good luck and I hope you feel better soon.

A single Depo-Provera shot switched me from being hypoglycemic (low blood sugar) to being a diabetic. It is not recommended for diabetics cause it raises blood sugar - which means it raises your insulin resistance.

For basic information on hypoglycemia, check out www.hufa.org. For basic information on hyperinsulinemia - a precursor condition to hypoglycemia and diabetes, check out www.mayoclinic.com and search for hyperinsulinemia.
