I made a big mistake and got married and it only lasted three weeks, it is uncontested, we both were hasty and foolish. How long does it take to get divorced, in the case of uncontested does the asset split have to be 50 - 50. I need to know, I am seeing a lawyer soon but wondered if anyone had the answer?

Since you have been married such a short time, there shouldn't really be any assets to split. You should each walk out with the same things you came into the marriage with.

Here are the divorce forms:

Cut and paste into a word processor and fill it out yourselves if you agree to everything.

HAve you considered seeing if you can get an annulment? You can say there was a misunderstanding, such as one of you wanted kids, and didn't know the other was deadset against it. See if this will work for you:

Q: What is meant by "grounds for divorce"?

A: A "ground" for divorce is a "reason" for divorce. A set of judicially recognized reasons for divorce exist in Arkansas. You must use one or more of these reasons to justify your divorce.

Q: What are the recognized grounds for divorce in Arkansas?

A: Arkansas law allows for divorces based upon the following grounds:

1. Where either party, at the time of contract for marriage, was, and still is, impotent;
2. Conviction of a felony or other infamous crime;
3. Habitual drunkenness for a period of one year;
4. Cruel and barbarous treatment as to endanger the life of the other;
5. Indignities to the person of the other as to render his or her life intolerable;
6. Where either party committed adultery subsequent to the marriage;
7. Incurable insanity of one of the parties;
8. Where either spouse, legally obligated to support the other, fails to do so; and,
9. Where husband and wife have lived separate and apart from each other for eighteen continuos months without cohabitation, regardless of fault or reason.

Q: What is the difference between "fault" and "no-fault" grounds for divorce, and how does this relate to "contested" and "uncontested" divorces?

A. The "no-fault" ground for divorce in the list of grounds above is (9.) "18 months continuous separation without cohabitation." "No-fault" means that the fault of one of the parties in destroying the marriage is not an issue in the divorce. Spouses obtaining a no-fault divorce usually agree on all terms of the divorce (property division, child custody, etc.). This is known as an uncontested divorce. However, if the parties cannot agree on terms, the divorce is a "contested divorce." It is possible to agree to "no-fault" grounds, but still end up in a contested divorce due to disagreement about terms.

Most of the answers provided are correct. However, the "free legal forms" site isn't very good. The photo I am attaching is proper complaint for divorce. The filing fee is $165.00, you also have to have a clerk cover sheet, summons (unless the other party signs a waiver which has to be notarized). Also, 30 days after the the complaint has been filed, you can either call the Judge's office and schedule a court date where the judge will sign the Decree (a separate document from the complaint) granting the divorce (the decree and the complaint are two COMPLETELY DIFFERENT DOCUMENTS) or do it by deposition which would negate the need for you to show up in Court.

In 3 weeks what could you have to split? He takes only what he brought in. You take what you brought in.You go 1 way he goes the other. End of story. End of marriage.
