What are you trying to zip?

Zip compression mostly works good on programs and office documents. Things like pictures, sound and movies really don't compress so well with ZIP. That's part of the reason why we have JPEG, MP3, DivX, etc.

What kind of file is it? Try overburn to fit it on disk. See link for help, good luck!

Use WinRAR or WinACE. Or if those don't work, use UHARC.
