I believe it is an inborn ability that everyone has that allows them to be writers. But some people aren't interested, or they feel like they can't. Even the worst writers, if they work hard and learn all that they can can become truly great. I think that it's a gift that has to be nurtured.

This can occur by doing all sorts of things. Take a writing workshop class in school. This can really help you. I loved the experience, and it was truly a very imagination-stimulating time for me. I would even take another class again. Another thing is to write often. Set aside certain times each day that are your own writing times. Remember, like all skills and all artwork, practice makes perfect.

Read often. Lots of reading helps you hone your skills, and learn what types of things you want to write. Does fantasy make your imagination fly across horizons that only you can see? Is the world of romance your passion? Do you love to crack a good mystery before that last chapter? Does a great non-fiction really help you to learn about something? Identify which genre you love. What if you like all of them? Then write a big variety!

Also, decide which language you want to write in. Since you're from India (I am assuming this because you DID post in the india answers) are you fluent in hindi? Perhaps some other language? You have to be able to convey ideas in MANY varied ways. That means that you have to be able to get across the same idea in more ways than one.

Learn how to construct sentences correctly. No one wants to read something that has no flow or consistancy. It's all in how you present yourself. You have to sound like you know what you're doing. You have to sound like you're intelligent.

Since you observe so much, take it a step further. Observe MORE. What does this texture feel like? What is that smell the smell of? Using your parts of the sentence effectively will really make your words shine. The fact that sometimes some words make you feel something is a great start. Now, to convey what those words mean so that others can understand what you feel in their own terms. That's part of the struggle. A writer has empathy and compassion for all types of people. It takes a really open mind so that you can develop many different types of characters. If you're into more scholarly and/or close minded types of writings, non-fiction would be great.

Always revise. It's necessary to polish a gem to let its beauty out, the same holds true for a work of art. Writing is art. Make sure to read things out loud to yourself to make sure they make sense. I've seen plenty of people kill what they're writing with bad grammer, horrible spelling mistakes and just generally confused-ness in their writing. Sure the story idea might have been good, but the overall presentation was utter crap. Always always always go over your work several times. Don't be afraid to be your own worst judge, because that is how you're truly going to get better at what you do.

At the same time, do what makes you happy, and don't let others tell you how to do it. But, also don't be afraid to take criticism. If someone tells you what you've done stinks, they may be right. Don't think too highly of yourself that you can't take the help that someone wants to give. Always ask for people's opinions. See if what you're writing conveys what you want it to. Remember, it's your story your words. The final decisions rest in you, but you have to have a balance of listening to others who have more experience, and letting yourself do it your way. You also have to be able to see your work through another's eyes. Put it away for a little while, let it sit, and come back to it. It will help you immensly.

There are so many things that make a good writer, and it's up to you to find it within yourself. You have to fertilize your gift, and let it bloom into a marvelous flower. There are a myriad of ways to become what you want to be. I think that you can do it!

If you need any critiqueing (in english, mind you, since I'm american) feel free to ask. I'll help you in any way that I can. ^_^

Hope this helps!

One way to know if there is a budding author inside of you can be answered by the question "Do you spend a lot of time writing?" People who write often can't NOT write....whether it is just something personal like a journal or letters or something for a wider audience.

I do a lot of writing. I don't always have the time to fully develop an idea at the time it occurs to me, so I write it down and may write the first few paragraphs so I won't forget it. I have a list a mile long of things that I want to write about when I get the time.

Write, write, write. That's the best way to get started as a writer. If you have talent, others will see it.

It's a feeling that motivates you to write. If you feel driven to write something, do not let anything stop you from achieving that dream goal of yours.
You know there's a budding writer inside of you when you are driven to write. Usually, this feeling comes when you're motivated by something to kick start your writing.
There are always room for improvement! :)

Here are some tips :P

1) Think of anything that drives you to write. It's usually a probability in your everyday life. Like "what if this happens ... what if something happens to me..." stuff like that.

2) Don't hesitate to get help from writers. There are a lot of writing groups out there! :D

3) Have you decide what genre to write on yet? If you haven't, think of one.

4) It's also a good idea to keep a journal. :P It makes things a lot more easier when you write. It channels your creativity into your story :D

5) Work on Grammar, syntax, and grasp the usage of the English Language.

6) Don't be afraid to let people critique your work too. It's usually better to get someone of a higher profession than your friends to review your work. :) It might be painful, but the result is a lot worthiness.

You can tell if you're a writer if you can't not write. It tends to be a feeling that you have to compose some form of writing, whether or not its in a journal or not. Many of the best writers are obsessive and have to write for multiple hours a day. Writing comes compulsivly to many writers.

Writing as much as possible is also the best way to improve, as well as showing your works to other people and having them read what you write. This method also helps improve grammer, punctuation and spelling if you give them to someone with the intention of having them proof read and edit it.

Depict a situation or an event or what you feel about anything and let it be known to others. They will tell you how you have written.Keep writing diaries and personal notes. The right selection of words that really convey what you mean will tell whether you can be successful as a writer. Patience pays.

Just keep writing. Get feedback from others and improve yourself when you need to. If you feel like writing is a good way to express yourself and get your thoughts known, writing's probably something you want to consider doing.
