A SPEECH ABOUT ABORTION.

Have you ever thought about killing anyone? You may think that question is crazy, but that question crosses the minds of millions of pregnant women everyday in the United States. No matter how you say it, abortion is the killing of a life. In this informative paper, you as a reader will come to understand the facts on abortion and then understand where I stand.
According to US Abortion data provided in 1995 by Planned Parenthood, there were 1.8 million first trimester abortions, 180 thousand second trimester abortions, and about four thousand required Hysterectomies. According to these figures, the United States as a whole killed or aborted 1,984,000 fetuses. It is disfiguring to think about 1 child being aborted, but 1,984,000 children, that is just sickening.

According to the Planned Parenthood survey of 1995, there are fewer deaths per million abortions than per million births and there are nine deaths per million abortion procedures and sixty-three deaths per million births. Both complications and the death rate rise with the age of the fetus. Pro-choice physicians seem to believe that a fetus can not feel any pain until the twenty-eighth week of pregnancy. Others who are pro-life believe that the fetus can feel pain as early as the seventh week. But does it really matter if the fetus can feel anything?

Proceeding with the decision to have an abortion brings severe depression…or does it? According to a survey done by Dr. Paul Sachdef, long term guilt or depression was rare in the seventy in-depth interviews that he conducted of women ages eighteen to twenty-five, single, and white. These classifications of the women interviewed represented the largest group of women seeking abortions. He also found that two-thirds of the women used contraceptives rarely or not at all. Three-fourths
of the women thought they would not become pregnant and almost eighty percent " felt relief and satisfaction" soon after the abortion.

He also found the elective abortion is much less traumatic for the parent's than an elective adoption. Many seemed to disagree with the doctor's findings. Several believe that post-traumatic abortion syndrome does not set in until perhaps seven years after the abortion. I would have to think that someone would feel depression or some kind of guilt or loneliness after having aborted her child. What do you think?

I would just like everyone to really think about your options if you are ever faced with the decision of whether or not to have an abortion. I know that there are many things such as rape or knowing that I would bring an ill child into this world that would make me reconsider abortion. But do not have an abortion just because you were too lazy to use some kind of contraceptive. A life is a very precious thing, especially one that is a part of you.

thanx & regards.

I am smart and women's health is my specialty, however, if you are going to give a speech on such a heated controversial subject, you need to be passionate about it and do your own research, or the opposing side will shoot you down.

If you don't feel strongly about abortion either way and have the interest to gather your own info, maybe you should choose another topic.

There is nothing worse than the guilt felt after making the choice. It is is seen a such a quick and easy medical procedure. There is guilt and shame for both the man and the woman when they excercise their right to chose. What about the man's right? What if he really wants the baby? Participate in an after the choice workshop and you will realize how the choice affects everyone involved.

There is only one thing to consider. Should we outlaw abortion or should we keep it safe and legal. Should we put doctors in jail for performing it and women in jail for seeking it. That is the only issue. It is strictly a legal problem. Nothing else. So what is the answer? Let's face it, nobody likes abortion. It raises a million different specters in your mind. But you cannot deny that if a female has something growing inside of her; it is within her liberty to allow her to decide whether or not she wants to carry it for nine months! To force her to carry an unwanted cluster of cells, upon penalty of jail, is an unjust and anti-liberty stance.

Are you Prolife? or in favor of abortion.?
If you are in favor of abortion, and maybe pregnant? And go through with it, you'll be killing a living fetus. Who knows, maybe one day he/she might be a president, or a governor? or a Dr., who finds a cure for some illness? If you don't have an abortion,
when the baby is born, you can take him/her to a hospital, they'll take him/her. No questions asked!
But if you have the baby, and hold him/her in your arms, Newly born, you'll find the life of your flesh!! God makes everything beautiful! God Made us in his image! But, think it real careful, before making any decisions. Once you have an abortion, there is no turning back! God Bless!!

I myself support a woman's right to choose. I feel that stodgy old men have no right to tell women what they can and cannot do with their own bodies.

It also amazes me that these are the same proponents that encourage schools to adopt the unrealistic abstinence curriculum in public school sex education classes as opposed to informing young adults of their other birth control options.

i won't do your homework for you but ask yourself this, how do YOU feel about abortion? do you even know yet? you have to understand all the facets about it before you can write about it. i'll tell you a LITTLE of what i think about it.
i am not for or against abortion. but i certainly don't think it should be illegal. abortion should not be used as a form of contraception but society needs to understand that in some cases, it will be. there are documented cases of 6 year olds giving birth.....this is just WRONG! people will say, it's an innocent baby, etc.....but no one thinks of the existing baby, the 6 year old having the baby! even teens today, so many of them are NOT prepared for parenthood. many people will say, you got pregnant, deal with it. but forcing parenthood on everyone isn't always responsible. many of these unprepared parents become abusive and neglectful of their unwanted babies, others will say give it up for adoption but realisitically we all know not ALL babies will get adopted, the world is overpopulated as we know it. there are soooooooooooooooooo many things to think about, so many individual cases. what are your feelings about rape? what if a girl gets raped and pregnant? why should she have to have that baby? what do you think would happen if our government did make abortion illegal? ask yourself these kinds of questions when you write your OWN paper.
