I am a manicurist and have been for 12 years. Best brand of polish is OPI or Essie or a new one that just came out of Beverly Hills called Sparitual. Most important is to use a good base coat (I prefer Creative Nail Design's Stickey) and a good top coat (Seche Vite, my favorite). But the best colors are what looks good on someone and what they like! Make sure if you're doing your own nails and toes, buff first and use alcohol or polish remover to clear nail of all debris and oil. ALWAYS REMEMBER: BASE COAT, 2 COATS COLOR AND TOP COAT!!! GOOD LUCK!!!

I usually paint little pictures on my nails (flowers, geometry shapes, sea creatures, butterflies, dragons, cats, people's faces, dancing figures...) and I would rarely use less than three colours at a time ;) My best friends ask me to paint their nails whenever there is a special occasion or if they just need sth lovely to enjoy and brag about for a week - my nail art lasts up to 10 days as it is possible to make unnoticable corrections here and there when the nail polish starts to peel off (unlike the situation with a single colour when you just have to remove it). Top gloss helps a lot to protect the colours.
Right now I'm with white/bright red/black 'heart' combination - the contrast of colours and shapes is quite attractive. Last night a friend asked me for a 'floral theme with butterflies' - I used 14 different nuances of pink, orange, blue, brown and silver and it took me about an hour but she was patient and really loved it in the end. All the pictures were unique but formed a lovely ensemble - there should always be a uniformity of some kind if you want your nails to appear stylish.
As for the toes - for mine I usually use a single colour and add a fanciful element to the big toe only, but when I paint my boyfriend's mother's toes (she's one of my best friends :) I'm more patient and use more imagination. She's an artist and always says she loves the tiny exquisite details which are characteristic of my painting.
Summer is the best time for being more colourful - don't stick to one colour only - go experiment and show off :)

For my nails I usually just have a french manicure or something almost clear. My toes usually get a bright pink or redish shade. Afterall, it's usually summertime when I am getting pedicures and people are seeing my toes so I like to have a fun bright summer shade.

I prefer the french manicured look on nails. When I do paint my nails I use OPI colors. They are expensive but worth it and come in beautiful shades.

there is not something incorrect with ur nails. attempt putting basically one coat extremely of three. additionally carry on with a top coat of the backside to set it and forestall issues like fingerprints and stuff. certainly in the previous employing the cop coat run chilly water on the nails. it hardens the nail polish. and then end it with the marvelous coat. desire it facilitates :)
