Try re-installing Windows Media Player and you may be able to play the video. Download Windows Media Plyaer 10 (the newest version), or Windows Media Player 11 (the beta version) at http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/player/10/default.aspx.

possible your graphic card is faulty. Another reason maybe is codec problem. Try to install VLC or MPC (Media Player Classic). How about your desktop screen colour? greenish-blueish or normal? Another possible reason may also be your motherboard graphic slot or cd-rom.

Better for you to get an expert friend to check it out for you or consult an IT technician

Download VLC, it is free.

Your q lacks information, what files are you trying apart from the .dat ones? are you fully updated? have you tried any other media player?

you have to go to your device manager and check to see if your video is marked with a yellow question mark...and if it is roll back driver, or simply remove and reinstall...also you may want to download a newr version of media player after u removed the old one...good luck
to get to ur device manager right click on my comp and go to manage

This offen happens when the VGA Driver is corrupt.
Try un-reinstalling the driver, this may solve the problem.

Delete and re-copy MMSYSTEM32.DLL as well.
