Have to laugh at what SAMI said-its not painless-you can tell his neva had his bits sliced open by stitched back together without an epidural!!!!
It hurts for weeks after too Sami!
Back to the question-sometimes they need to make the cut if the baby is taking too long to come out and the opening is not big enough.
Once the baby and placenta are out then they stitch you up.

Docs don't usually cut anymore, although i think it is more common in the states. I had a 2inch 2nd degree tear though, and yep they stitch it up. If i have any advice for you it would be that if you think it is not healing in the right amount of time go to your docs straight away. I didn't and now my daughter is 9 months old and i'm still in pain, and i've got to wait until I can get out to the ob/gyn

Docs can cut and stitch parts if it is necessary during delivery. It all depends on how fast you deliver the baby, the quicker you deliver, he won't have to time to snip anything. If you tear anything during labor he will give stitches, but I don't believe that you will feel it. I have had 3 kids, and I have had stitches and I didn't feel it. I have been cut during labor and you can't tell he is doing anything to your body during labor.

If they need to they will cut you to make sure the baby has room to come out and to make sure you don't rip and most of the time they will stitch up the cut.

Only in first delivery. They make a small cut (called episiotomy)in vaginal wall and stitch it.It`s painless and eases delivery.

You mean your vagina? They may have to cut it, and then stitch it if the baby is too large.
