well, my baby is asleep in the day and awake in the wee hours of the morning...i guess in my side of the fence...you are lucky...and i bet you're gonna say the same thing with me...
hmmm...do you work at night that's why you sleep in the day???
if not, then maybe you should try to make it a routine to go to bed at night...even if you can't sleep...it's hard the first days or weeks even...but eventually...you're body will be developing a sleeping habit...and get used to sleeping at night.
hope this helps...

There are a few things you can do without taking sleeping medication:
1. Give yourself a bedtime routine. Take a bath, read a book, wind down a bit.
2. Chamomile tea. It works wonders.
3. Make sure you get enough exercise.
6. Avoid napping. I know the old saying "Sleep when your baby sleeps" but if your son is sleeping through the night, as tempting as it may be, don't nap. It will make it difficult to sleep at night.
4. Set the same bedtime every night.
5. Cut out caffeine products in the afternoon/evening. This includes chocolate, or anything sugary.

You may be unable to sleep for several different reasons. I don't think it's uncommon at all for new mothers to have a hard time falling to sleep, even though they may be exhausted from the work of having a family.
One reason may be hormonal changes that naturally occur after a baby's birth. They can make it impossible to fall asleep and you can probably think of other times in a woman's life when hormones affect her sleep--certain times in a menstrual cycle, times during menopause. How about how sleepy some women are during pregnancy? Those are all caused by shifting hormones and time eventually can straighten them out.
There is also the sense of responsibility that you feel for your baby. It's hard to turn that off--or down--so that you can sleep. Maybe the baby's father can be in charge for a certain time each evening, night, or early morning, so that you know that the baby is being taken care of and you can relax better.
Time will take care of some of these things--the hormonal shifts, in particular, but you can help your ability to sleep along by following a routine before you go to bed. You can do anything that helps you--anything safe, that is-- but do the same things at the same time, in the same order to communicate to your body that it's time to sleep. You could try having a nice bath or shower, putting on sleepwear, reading a book, listening to music, whatever soothes you, but again, doing it as a routine is what will (in time) get your body ready to relax.
Good luck. I wish you rested nights and happy days.

Well, I too had this problem for awhile. My sleeping schedule was comepletely backwards, sleep all day, awake all night. And when I was ready to go to sleep, my son was ready to play jump and run around.
It's not soo much that WE have the problem, it's just something we do, we got accustomed too.
Anyhow, some tips that helped me out....
Try breaking night One NIGHT< of course DO THIS under the buddy system, which means, have someone around, a spouse a friend, a family member who can help you out as you WILL be extremly tired.
Try not to sleep all day, and as you go about doing things with yourself the house and the baby, remember them, as routine that you would to continue.
Somepple prefer to make a daily list of things to do.
Keep mental track of all the things you normally do each day, so this way, it helps your body know, "okay body, we're giving the baby his dinner, I know in about an hour I'll give my baby a bath"
And with that in mind, you're body will know "okay body, I'm giving my baby a bath now, this means soon, I'll be going to bed myself."
Once you know your baby is sound asleep, you NOW take your evening bath, and go over your evening routines around the house NOW that you're alone and couldn't do somethings while your baby was awake.
After cleaning up all the messes you neglected during the day, you slip into bed, cover your eyes with an xtra shirt or something like that (works for some pple) and while laying in bed, Slowly count from 100 backwards,
this works actually, counting slowly. SOmetimes you'll get to ONE and still be awake. IN this case, you Pray, you turn position, (example : if you're laying on your back, flip on your side or your stomach) then again count from 1000 backwards, slowly in a Second-to-Second manner.
Example : 100misippi (breath) 99 misippi (breath) 98 misippi etc.
I hope this helped. :)
also after you begin sleeping early, wake up around 9am ... do your mommy morning thing, as much of it as you can before your baby wakes up! haha, or on some rare occassion you WILL have to wake up your baby .... dont be sad to wake up your baby from sleeping all night, this helps your baby gain a Healthy sleeping habit as well, helping the baby play in the day, take a nap (WHICH YOU CAN ALSO TAKE A NAP, BUT IT"S ADVISED THAT YOU DO THINGS YOU CANT DO WHILE BABY IS AWAKE, take advantage, so the night time isNOT packed with too many cleaning projects, but THERE IS NOTHING wrong with taking a nap while baby naps... )
GoodLuck

friend eat a little bit more in the night. do some works that needs a little bit more energy. that is you must spent some energy before u eat.
another way, have a long walk with Ur friends in the evening and after that do Ur works and then have a nice supper in the night and go to sleep.
note you must spent energy in the day so that you get tired in the night that makes u to sleep well in the night. before this, avoid falling tension, be open minded don't always think about any of Ur problems.

I just learnt my lesson with my 3rd child after nearly having a nervous breakdown. My boyfriend pointed out that i start to do everything after the baby goes to bed clean...... I also keep on staying up because i wanted to spend alone time with my boyfriend. As soon as the baby goes to bed take a warm bath and lie in bed. it takes a few days of working on it but in no time you should be able to fall asleep. But do NOT get up and do NOT watch tv.

Start by tring to set yourself on the same sleep schedule as your baby. When you go to sleep in the morning try to only sleep for a couple of hours and then get up so you can sleep while your baby sleeps. I wouldn't advise using sleeping pills cause they are highly adictive.

Hiya
It sounds like you are having trouble switching off and relaxing to get to sleep.
The relaxtion ideas you have been offered sound great, so just avoid alcohol, nicotine and caffeine after 7pm and go to bed nice and early and just read or listen to music to relax. Good luck and I really hope you get a good nights sleep soon xx

Oh young one! Honestly you are younger than my son, and not that much older than my grandson! Allow life to happen, don't worry about why you are not sleeping! It must be the freeist time you have, and you don't want to waste it!
I think you are wonderful!

You need to start doing stuff during the day to exhaust your body out. If you do nothing during the day then your body is all pumped up at night time.
