I think because he's different than they are used to seeing in the White House. His predecessor was all glitter and no substance, this president has a backbone, morals, is a Christian, isn't swayed by whining, nor bothered by polls. He's self effacing, makes fun of himself as much as people make fun of him, plain spoken, and does what he thinks is right for the country, which is why he was elected to two terms. I wish some of the people (like the one with the laundry list of evils committed by the Bush family), would look as closely at the backgrounds of other politicians as they do his, and remember if they are going to throw charges out there they really should source them, and with multiple sources. His grandfather (Prescott Bush) significantly funded Hitler and helped Hitler rise to power and had his assets seized by President F.D. Roosevelt under the U.S. Trading With The Enemy Act during WWII (U.S. Vesting Order 248, October, 1942, G. W. Bush's father handed out free bibles and about a dollar an acre for mineral rights in Texas from ignorant farm folk, his wife Laura hit and killed a 17 year old boy, possibly while drunk but we'll never know because her blood alcohol levels were not tested or were "lost", his brother allowed a rigged Presidential election in Florida, his daughters are boozing party girls with numerous under aged drinking violations/public disturbances in several states/using phony I.D. for buying booze, etc., his niece Noelle Bush has been in an out of drug rehab clinics and has been arrested as an adult for drugs, George himself is an alcoholic and failed to show up for military duty for months at a time, his family's business gave the Houston Gulf Airport in Texas to Osama Bin Laden's family, and Salem bin Laden, Osama's brother, was a major investor in G. W. Bush's oil company Arbusto Energy, and his pals, including Haliburton, have plunged our nation into unimaginable debt just to plunder their oil profits out of the Middle East . . . and the man says he's all about "Family Values." That's why the vast majority of Americans are ashamed and revolted by G.W.Bush.

Because people are stupid and they like to blame him for all their problems even though he doesn't get to just decide things like people seem to think, we do have a whole system of government that advises him blah blah and in the end pretty much decides, he's just someone we like to poke fun at and notice how he resembles a chimp because we have nothing better to do.
