Not trying to sound prejudice
It's just that I notice when I am walking down the street or in the store Spanish men like to stare at me. Well not just ME women in general. It doesn't matter what they look like they almost break their necks trying to stare. I know I am not hot so unless it is bc I have a huge booger hanging out of my nose I don't see why they stare. Can someone please tell me why?

*I know men in general do it sometimes but i mostly see that kinda reaction with the spanish men.*

It's a cultural thing, but Spanish men are not the only ones that do it. Men in some European and Asian countries do it as well. Italian men are well known for the same behavior back in Italy. Let’s no go that far, how about Italians in NY? Yeah, it’s done with more finesse in NY than in Italy, but some still do it. At least according to a female colleague of mine who spent most of her teen years in Italy and went to college in NY. How about blacks? I know that they to it just as bad as Spanish guys. I guess that every man likes a good looking women regardless of which country they are from. The difference may be that in other cultures, it is somewhat accepted as a somewhat “normal” male behavior.

When I was studying anthropology, I had a conversation about this exact question with several men of different races, including white guys. I was surprised that they admitted that they do it almost as much has Latins, but that they try HIDE it BETTER. Like one of then told me, “don’t forget that our country was founded by puritans. We brag about our European origins but we have a crazy need to separate ourselves from their nudity and sexual openness. Think about it, we live in a country that has a handful of states in which women can still get arrested for BREASTFEEDING in public!”

I think that you need to stop stereotyping and look at your own race first. But do it with an open mind, try doing it without the puritan blindfold that covers most of the white folk's eyes. After all, they say that those who live in a glass house, should not throw stones. I hope you get what that mean.

It's part of their culture. I spent several years traveling in Latin America. It happens to me, too and I never have been able to "get used to it." (I am a white female). It happened to me just today in downtown LA - two Latino men were glaring at me and it felt so uncomfortable. The driver also almost ran me over while getting too close (I was the pedestrian and had the right of way while crossing the street). It was hideous. It might be a compliment, but it feels totally violating and disrespectful. It does not attract me - it repels me.

Spanish men? Do you live in Spain? I get the sense, when I'm in Spain or Italy and the like, that the men there have not ben castrated in the sense that American men have been. They notice women because they are men and they know it.

could be just your area. Perhaps you have a particular feature that is considered attractive in their culture. I don't notice that Spanish men stare more than any other men in my area or in other places in which I've lived. Maybe now that you've noticed it, you are more aware that it happens.

being part spanish, I think it's just that they have just a strong sense of attraction towards the female energy and spirit. It's hard for me not to stare at a woman that I am attracted to. I've gotten better at not drooling over them though. It takes a lot of effort though.

Yeah, I agree. But they stare at everybody like that . I guess its their culture. I've had this conversation many of times. I recently went to this mexican restaurnant in San Antonio on vacation and when I ((black) and my friend (white) and her husband (hispanic) walked in everyone stopped and stared. Even the workers. We had to seat ourselves. Needless to say it was one of the worst meals I ever had.
