National Express Coaches offer frequent services to all parts of the country from Sheffield. Plus they do have 'fun fares' which are very competitive. I got a single from London to Sheffield for £3 a couple of months ago.
Worth having a look at places of interest and then trying to plan the trip for yourself.
Easy enough to book on line and you can print tickets off immediately.

go to either main bus station or local travel agents,both should display any day trips available
