The Kirby salesman came by today and showed us a demonstration. I was absolutely disgusted by how filthy my carpet is. We have cats, and he pulled up cat hair from places where I had never even seen them. There was so much crap in my carpet. I have allergies, and I could not believe that I had been breathing that stuff. We vacuum 2-3 times a week, and you would've thought we lived in a barn from the stuff on that filter. So has anyone else used a Kirby, bought one, etc.? Did it help with allergies? Are you happy with it in the long run? We paid 2300 dollars, so I would like to know if it will be worth it.

My mum was bought a Kirby as a wedding present, which was 38 years ago. I have used the Kirby and it's fantastic. Yes, they cost a lot of money but my mum had only had the machine repaired one or twice, not bad for 38 years.

my parents bought one, Kirby and it was terrible, heavy and i hated pushing that around.
get a Simplicity, or Riccar vacuum for around 2-5 hundred dollars tops.

I've got 3 cats and the Riccar works great and it only weighs around eight pounds.

I think that the Simplicity works just as well but costs less. Don't buy an Orreck unless you just want to pay for the name.

Pull up the carpet. It don't mix with animals, especially cats!
Anything that is sold by direct marketing is expensive. By the time the salesperson gets their commission, his manager and his manager, the distributor, the importer and not forgetting the company and the inventor. I'm sure the list could be longer.

a kirby is good

but a Dyson is equal (or superior) to Kirby and costs quite a bit less

I had a boyfriend who used to sell them. It does clean very well, but it's too darn expensive!
