I won't get into evaluating and comparing the two educational systems and their quality, but there is another thing that is worth thinking about.
A US degree is recognized all over the world and the quality of the US educational system is well known.
Aussie education may be as good, but is not very well known. Companies, that have the choice between two candidates, one with - say - an M.A. in engineering from the U.S. and the other with a similar degree from Australia, will not likely go through the effort of checking out the latter. They will go with what they know, the U.S. degree.

I am a Yank in the land DownUnder and I would have to say Australia. I have seen their educational system here and they far out do the USA.
Children are encouraged to learn here where the chance to go further in school is far more likely .
In the states children are lost in the system ..

In australia we go to university for free, completely free (the fees are taken out of our tax once we finish graduating). In the US, only the wealthy can go to college. But the US probably has better universities.

I did a 365 days out of the country in Berkeley, because of their acceptance in Linguistics... and that i in no way left! A 365 days out of the country is a appropriate adventure.
