I left a rather abusive 30yr.marriage for my own saftey and health. The house is still mortgaged and he is trying to get my name off the ins.but the mortgagors wont because they are written with my name first. He seems to think that I'm not entitled to anything .The house caught on fire and he is saying that the ins. money is his.I'm afraid that he will take that and not spend it to fix the house so it can be sold .I dont understand why he is so greedy but I can't even get another loan because of him. He has financialy destroyed me and I need help.I live in PA anybody know what I should do for help?He has already signed my name on one of the checks from one of the mortgages and he will probably do the same on the ins check and selling of the house .How do I stop him?

Go get yourself a lawyer. You are not in a "do it yourself" situation and if you think you are, then you are a fool.

Stop standing there like an idiot while he continues to make your situation worse. You are ALLOWING him to do these things to you because of your inaction.

Your chance to stop him is BEFORE he does it. Recovery afterward could be impossible.

I hope you have gone to a women's shelter. You need a good lawyer! If you don't have any money, go to Legal Aid. Ask them to file a brief to put a hold on all of your joint accounts. Also, explain your situation to your bank and ask for advice. See a free credit counselor.

File a police report about the forged check . Call the insurance company and write them a letter about your situation. Take out an ad in the classified section of the local newspaper stating that you are not responsible for his debts. Notify all credit card companies that you want to close your charge cards.

He was abusive and you're suprised that he's acting so greedy? The guy is scum - don't put anything past him. If he's forged your name onto a check it's fraud and he can be arrested. Call a lawyer that give a free consultation and tell them what's going on - they should be able to point you in the right direction. You can also call the insurance company to see what they might be able to do. Fraud is generally frowned upon by insurance companies too. Good luck! I hope you can get your money!

if you were married in comunity of property than you are entitled of half of anything you both own no matter of what he is telling you ,he will loose the case .
The only way for him to get everything is if you guys signed a pre-nuptial contract specifying what belongs to whom.He can't write anything in your name .
