I don't know for sure... Maybe they had cravings for apples. Thank goodness none of them had craving for DURIANS! Or MANGOSTEEN! Or BANANAS!

Can you imagine: Durian Cruise? Mangosteen Jolie-Pitt? Banana Martin?

It's unusual. People want their kids to be different than other people. Maybe to that parent, a unique name=a unique person. I know a lot of celebs name their kids odd things. Think Bruce Willis+Demi Moore=Rumor, and Scout. Or that chick, named Peekaboo.......different. The first time I heard the name "Petra" I was all confused, "how wierd is that?" Then I found out Petra in Germany = Sarah in America.
Not just different names, but spellings as well. Take mine for example; Kristle "Krissy" Ileene (normal would be Crystal "Chrissy" Eillene (I think)) or my sister, Rebekkah (Beki) and normal would be Rebecca, or Becky.
Something, I don't know, whatever.

From the type of same stupid people that would name a child Ford, or Porsche, La quishe or Constellation.

There are strange people out there. Apple is much better than names I hear people have.

APPLE is NOT a normal name in England hello?! Have you been? I never met an Apple in London, or Paris or Provence for that matter.

My new neighbor is "Free" still better than La anything... geez they don't name the kids in France La or Le anything.

Perhaps in the hope that, with an odd name, the child might feel somewhat ostracized from general society, and will insist, in his/her need to express his/her self-identity, eschew the use of 'net slang in writing queries. Datz wuzzup wid dat, yo.

Incidentally, in reference to your added comment, I graduated with my BA in English. It's generally capitalized, being a proper noun and all. The word "English," that is. Capitalized. Oh, never mind.

That is not the only werid baby name in Hollywood, try Pilot Inspektor, Rumor, Kyd, Kal-El, and Forrest. Those children are going to be scarred for life with those kinds of names.

Apple is actually a pretty common name in England. They speak English there. Not that you would understand.

Maybe the parents have been paid by Apple computers to advertise a little.

I think it's a cute nickname to name someone.
I knew a friend in high school whose nickname was 'Apple' because she had an apple-shaped face.
I guess it is cute- if the person really does have an apple-shape face..

At least they didn't name their son Pilot Inspektor, like Jason Lee did.
