I would like to buy a good configuration laptop. With 1/2GB ram, intel duo core processor and 2ghz... Suggest me a good model at a good price. what season is it best to buy a laptop? Is it thanksgiving/christmas? or now?? (school offers are running now)

But last year Best Buy had a day after Thanksgiving sale on laptops that had people standing in the cold overnight to get the only hundred they had. I don't remember the price or system, just that it was almost like stealing it because it was so cheep. Cheep in price only, looked like a good system.
The latest processor out is Intel Dual Core, so single core processors might be getting cheaper to get rid of them. Nothing wrong with them, just not "new" latest greatest system.

Can't help you with the configuration, but I bought mine last August during the tax free weekend (laptops count as school supplies). You save a bit on the tax, but there are also good specials running and extra staff around to help you find the best model, etc. Another piece of advice I got from a friend who is a web designer: consider buying your laptop from someplace like Best Buy that does minor repairs on site. If you buy it online you will have to send it off for repairs and you'll be out a computer until it comes back. Think you won't need repairs? Think again. I had to take mine in every week for the first month of two to get the bugs out. Almost all of that service was free. I also got great phone support from the local store when I needed it.
If you missed the school sales, I agree you should wait until the Christmas season and watch for sales/specials.

Before school starts they have good sales for college students, the day after thanksgiving a lot of stores have good deals and probably the day after Christmas because they try to get rid of their excess merchandise. If you want cheap then try EBay... I got my laptop at Circuit City and it was overpriced and their service sucks... Don't go there!

Right now cause there is NO tax on certain Items(Laptops Included if have student ID) for going back to school..this will only last 4 days with tomorrow being the last day I believe

Honestly... Right now, because school's about to start and all these computer company's are have sales going on for college students. But the sales also apply to everyone.

i got mine at the day after thanksgiving sale it was a steal, an offer that i would not let go by even though i had gotten one a few months before
