yes!!!! Getting into the baseball hall of fame should have to do with how well you played baseball and with the statistics you accrued. It should have nothing to do with whether you are a decent or likable person. Pete Rose deserves to get into the hall of fame based on the merit and quality of his play.

Pete Rose has 4,256 hits and he's not in the hall of fame. Sure he gambled on baseball but look at Ty Cobb who sharpened his spikes so he would stab the baseman when he slid into 2nd or 3rd base. Mickey Mantle was out all night drinking and cheating on his wife. Judging by these great players the Hall of Fame isn't a character hall of fame.
Pete is the all-time major league leader in hits (4256), games played (3562), and at bats (14,053). He won three World Series rings, three batting titles, one Most Valuable Player Award, two Gold Gloves, the Rookie of the Year Award, and made 17 All-Star appearances.
No one has the chance at beating some of Rose's records. There is no doubt in my mind that he deserves in the hall of fame. Anyone with this colorful of a career deserves to be in there. If he isn't allowed in the hall of fame maybe they should take Mantle, Cobb, etc out.
Screw the gambling issue its Pete effin' Rose. The only man worth the title of Charlie Hustle.

YES, YES, YES!!!! Now I understand his being banned from baseball and frankly I think that should continue. But Ty Cobb was a violent racist who fixed games himself and he's in the HOF. Pete is the all-time hits leader, played on 3 WS championship teams, and embodied everything that was good about the game when he was a player. His gambling addiction is not reason to keep him out; after all he never bet against his own team. He should be kept out of baseball til he really comes to grips with his gambling problem but put him in the HOF.

No and he won't.
As a player, Pete Rose was the most selfish player ever. Just look at his hanging on for five years to break Ty Cobb's record for hits.
He is a disgrace to baseball and humanity.

As soon as he apologizes for what he did and baseball let's him back in, then yes he belongs in the Hall of Fame. I hate these sports writers that say what he did was so bad that they woud not vote for him anyway. Yeah, but what all those that abuse drugs and steroids and tarnish baseball that way. This man did more for baseball than anyone during the time he was in it. I know what he did was wrong and there was a precedent for his punishment, but still he was one of the all time greats.

"gimpalomg" I'm glad someone gets it....Pete Rose didn't just gamble...he bet on games his team was playing in...How long was Pete Rose "a player manager"? Pete Rose cheated baseball, he cheated his team, he cast a shadow of doubt on the integrity of baseball...
Pete Rose knew he was breaking the cardinal rule of baseball...It's posted in every ML locker room "DO NOT BET ON BASEBALL"...Everyone in baseball gets both written and verbal warnings from the commissioners office every year not to bet on baseball...Pete Rose put himself ahead of the game he claims to love and every player who plays the game...
The HOF is for those that bring honor to the game...Pete Rose does not belong...

Yes. here is my example if you say "Joe went around third and went Pete Rose into home plate" You can picture exactly what happened. That dude was an icon. So he gambled a little. Don't tell me everyone elses sh!t doesn't stink.

absoulutly. he was a great ball player. even though he had all those scandels when he retired, it shouldnt stop him form getting into the hall of fame. the hall of fame honors what players did on the field not off it

As a player, yes. As a human being, he should never be allowed to be involved in the game again.

If you put Rose in then what about "Shoeless Joe Jackson?". Also let's just forget about steriods and one more for the road we should re-elect George Bush.
