I do both. I hang the items that need to be pressed (ie collar shirts, slacks). so if I ever run out of time and can't get to the iron, at least they are semi -straight), the rest I fold and place them in drawers.
A lot of department stores do this and it annoys the heck out of me--they hang tshirts. It's stupid because it stretches out the neckline and you end up with a boat-neck tshirt. But if you must hang the shirt, I'd say put it thru the loop and hang your shirt in half (if that makes sense :P)
Laundry:
I wash all loads in cold water and reverse the clothing inside-out.
And to avoid 'shrinkage', in addition to washing in cold water, I hang dry the ones that i really need to stay its size and color, such as the dark items. Be sure to hang-dry in the shade because leaving it under the sun would fade your colors.

I dont just throw them on the floor. I hang them up eventually. BUT even then they are on the bed or in the recliner. SMILE
I hang up my expensive items and fold others. I don't have much closet or drawer space for all my clothes...which means it is time again for me to share with others...LOL
If we take care of what has been given to us now, IMAGINE what we can be blessed with!

The best thing to do with clothes is collect them in a basket when you have used them for a day or if they are soiled. Put in for washing with a good detergent. Hang out to dry in the sun and once they are dry fold them straight away and stack them in your cupboard or iron those that need to be ironed and hang it up in a suitable place. The next time you use them you will feel very fresh.

It depends, if I am in a rush, lazy, or tired my room is covered with all my clothes laying around; however, if I am bored or full of engery I hang-up and fold my clothes.

After I've washed things I hang them up and fold them. Sometimes things I've worn recently (jeans and hoodies mostly) just get stacked on unused furnature
