There's actually no difference. Saving a picture file gets converted into the same quality. The might have different tags, but they're still the same thing.

None. Jpeg just came first and is more accurate, but Microsoft likes using 3 letter file extensions most of the time so its shortened to jpg in some cases.

As a file extension, they are the same, referring to JPEG files, compressed pictures or graphic images. The 3 letters variant was used because the file definition format of the earlier Disk Operating System (DOS) has a limit on the maximum file extension length of 3 characters only. The newer operating system does not have such a limitation hence the full four letters are used.

JPEG is an acronym for Joint Photographic Experts Group Therefore, a JPEG relates to photographs, where as the JPG is typically drawings, cartoons, etc.

jpeg stands for Joint Photographic Experts Group which is the grp which started the jpeg standard images which specifies how to produce a file suitable for computer storage and transmission (such as over the Internet) from a JPEG stream.JPG was the old form which stands for Joint Photographic Group

Absolutely nothing except the file extension. You can name the same file blahblah.jpg or blahblay.jpeg and there is no difference. I guess it's just to confuse people. The internal file structure is the same
