infinity is our assumption of things which we this is unknown.few yrs ago when we didn't have the tools to measure the d btw earth and moon we called it infinite.don't u think we create a wall infront of our imagination and get satisfied wth it?

... You can believe exactly what you want to believe. But there are others with much more knowledge than you in various fields that need the word infinite to make the universe make sense (to an extent). If you feel everything makes sense without the word, that's fine. But then again, you're not trying to make gold atoms collide at relativistic speeds to mimic the beginning of time either.

You could argue that everything we believe in, we can't actually know. Why do you assume that your mother and father still exist when you don't see them? For all you know, they could disappear at the moment you turn your eyes away and the pop into existence again as soon as you look at them. Even worse, if you don't trust your eyes (why should you?) you might speculate if anything exists at all.

Infinity is a practical concept to deal with space that does not seem to have any limit. If you postulated a limit, you might wonder how it would be to bounce into the limit, or you might wonder where the limit is. Assuming infinite space is just simpler.

Just like it's simpler to assume that objects and people exist even when we don't see them.

Infinite is a simple concept that is nothing more than the opposite of limited. Your suggestion seems to be that everything is limited. Higher math uses a figure eight on its' side for this concept. Are you therefore suggesting that mathematics delete any part of the discipline because you are uncomfortable with the potential of infinity?

Infinite can be use to explain things we don't know the answer to.
Like how do we fall in love and then years from now that person always holds a special place in our hearts. Why ..How..and what makes this so special? Never ending like the questions of life there is no answer too.. everything...so it would be infinite...!!

Infinity is not "our assumption of things." It is a math word. A loose definition of infinite is "goes on forever". Look it up.
As for the wall to the imagination - yes, definitely! It is so much easier to hide behind what we know is safe, rather then allow our imagination scare hell out of us. This is one reason foreward thinkers are considered crazy. Personally, I prefer crazy and dangerous thought.

i believe that the word infinite is a nessecarry word. Only for the simple fact that it challenges human kind. It works just the same as forever, if you try to imagine forever your mind automatically tries to think of when it will end, even though the definition of forever is never-ending as also is Infinite, we strive to go further than what our mind believes what we can accomplish and when we do get further we only want to go further than that. that is why we need infinite...and also if you think math 1 divided by 3 is an infinite number so if what i just said doesn't work just try imagining .3333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333...etc.

I think the word fits perfectly for the measure of the unknown. Infinite possibilities are there to use it. Don't know why you wouldn't want to use it?

Infinity isn't a practical number in a real world sense but it is very useful in math. Finding limits as they approach infinity can help you find the actual length of cords etc... You are right that it is just a theoretical number.
