No known shark attacks but several sightings mostly by surfers.

that was off the coast of hawaii if that was the young girl i think you are talking about. The west coast beaches (in Cali) do not have the "sharks" that swarm around to find prey such as swimmers. The water at Cali beaches (such as Pismo, Morro Bay, etc.) is far too cold to be called home by human-eating sharks. They live in warm water such as the Gulf of Mexico bordering Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, and Florida
