I would disagree with the statement - the holocaust was a systematic ethnic cleansing and genocide which was palnned and carried out (and Germany are not the only ones guilty of such a genocide by any means and Jews not the only victims). What is happening in the Lebanon, whilst planned, is a random bombing designed to eradicate what they believe to be the Hezbollah problem. Although religion can be seen to be part of this problem (Judaism against islam), the main underlying element is Isaraels percieved need to rid themselves of a terrorist organisation (although Hezbollah probably see themselves as freedom fighters).
Why this is so sad is because Hezbollah are not Lebonese as such and the government of the country has no say or input - they do not have a political arm in the same way thet the PIRA did and as such negotiation is difficult. So whilst this encave or cell of Herzbollah continues Israel will continue to bomb and innocent people - old, infirm, childen and other peoples of Lebonon will continue to die.
If I were cynical I would suggest that your teacher is either someone who is provoking serious thought (a Devil's advocate, so to speak) or an anti-semite. You could ask if the people of Rwanda if they had learnt the humanitarian lessons of the holocaust wehen the genocide there cost the lives of millions; or did the governments of the USA, UK and Spain, who started a similar war in Iraq, learn nothing from the Holocaust (or Russia in Afghanistan, or USA in Vietnam... the list goes on). The Humantitarian lessons of the holocaust - as well as other conflicts - is out there for us all - why should it just be Israel's lesson?

Israel learnt the lesson of the holocaust. Then, they went to death like sheep to the slaughterhouse. But since then, the Jews fight if necessary. By the way, it seems the whole world forgets that every state is obliged to keep persons on its territory from waging war against another state. Lebanon failed systematically to do so. Therefore Lebanon is the aggressor.

It is insulting to confuse the Holocaust with Israel's current offensive on Lebanon. The Holocaust killed millions and tortured most all of them in some way. The offensive in Lebanon has killed a few hundred by mistake (Israel didn't mean to kill innocent civillians, but stuff happens) and certainly tortured none on purpose.
I cannot believe I actually have to explain the difference.

What is going on in Lebanon is terrible, but it is no Holocaust. The Nazis attempted to kill all Jews. They murdered indiscriminately. If Israel took the same approach, the number of casualties would make the current numbers pale.

I would definitely have to disagree on that. Everything that in this world happened for a reason. For Islamic countries, that is a very rare action to wade war against others just for fun. Shouldn't be taking examples like Saddam and things happening at Somalia, these events are caused by warlords, not by some religious disagreement or some man raped the other's wife. Real reasons can help us understand more about what caused wars and what stops them. But this is one situation people just can;t go on with their own theories and blame it on anyone that has the upperhand on war.

Disagree.
Hmm right now I don't really see exactly how Isreal's actions are directly reflecting a holocaust personna. I mean can you really relate this to something so horrible and controversial as the holocaust. Just the assumption is one in itself. Maybe I don't watch the news enough but yes, what I see is absolutley terrifying and disturbing, I don't think it can equal to the amount of destruction that the holocaust left behind.

After reviewing the humanitarian lessons of the holocaust, I absolutely DISAGREE. The holocaust taught us that genocide is bad. Isreal isn't KILLING ALL OF LEBANON.

Israel is an independent state and is fighting an out side enemy not committing genocide against civilian population although it needs to show restraint in use of force but it is nothing like holocaust

I think this question suggest that Jews should never fight wars because millions of them were once killed during a war. That kind of killing was ethnic cleansing. This is not. The question is absurd really.
Disagree.
