It's possible to be friends with people at the "pen pal" level. Still, remember when you meet people on here, you really don't know anything about them other than what they tell you. My suggestion is that you don't totally rely on online friends for your friendship needs. Don't cut off your realtime friends. Always be on the lookout for someone to add to your group of either casual or close friends. Not everyone can be your best friend or even a close friend, but in the end, they probably can be your casual friend. Don't underestimate the value of casual friends, especially when you socialize or do some fun things as a group. Also be aware that it takes longer for boys to actually say, "We are friends" than it takes girls to say the same thing. Sometimes boys sort of just know they are friends without actually saying it.

If you have had sex I say it's not a good thing to do. The sex pal might think they have a chance for something you may not want. You didn't say what you were or are.
