Any suggestions on cool things to do for an out of town teenager for a few days in San Fransisco? I'm going soon and wondering what to do there.

San Francisco is no paradise for the under-21 teenage crowd, the nightclubs, shows, and bars are all more or less off limits. However, if you're 18+ you can get into comedy clubs (Cobbs, Punchline) and a few dancefloors (Crib in SOMA, for instance).

Many of the carnival amusements at the Wharf and science museums are geared toward younger kids, and are probably of limited interest.

Having said that, all is not loss...

You might want to do one of the San Francisco area's theme parks:

Paramount's Great America

Six Flags Marine World
http://www.sixflags.com/parks/marineworld/index.asp

Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk

If you're active, you might enjoy:

- a bike ride from the Marina to the Marin Headlands, there are rentals along the waterfront

-the many sporting activities in Golden Gate Park (Horseback riding, golf, tennis)

- the Angel Island and Alcatraz tours are great

- Ice skating, bowling, and the movie theatres at Metreon

Go to the movies:

- In addition to the Metreon, San Francisco always has great selection of indie and foreign films on show. The Embarcadero Center Cinema is the largest venue for such films. The Roxie and Kabuki are also interesting.

Spectator Sports:

- This is a big league city. The Raiders, As, and Warriors all play at the decrepit Oakland Collesium (next to a particularly depressing BART station). However, what they lack in facilities, they make up for in spirit. Nothing like a rowdy pre-game tailgate at the Collesium.

- The Giants play at the new AT&T Park Downtown -- it's a glorious stadium next to the water.

- The 49ers are still at Cantlestick near the airport.

- And the Sharks play at the San Jose Arena (40 minutes south of the city).
