Why do people assume you're jealous of a celebrity if you dont like them?

Is it because some fans of celebrities are blinded by starlight they dont see that maybe others dont find their favorite celebs attractive,talented,smart,etc? Listen there are celebs I dont like and I rag on them some. I usually dont like them because either I dont think they're that talent or attractive or they are not the kind of person I like. How does it hurt you if I dont like some actor/actress,Singer or other artist. Give me a civil answer without being insulting to me or others answering. 10 points will be given to the most intelligent and polite answer

Actually Katherine you dont have to know someone personaly to not like them. Celebs are in the limelight you see their lives basicly warts and all.

People see criticism as being jealous of people. When you say you don't like somebody some people may take it as you don't like them because they have more than you do. Although many times it isn't true that way. I think that it is not necessarily that you don't like the "person" it is more that you don't like the movies or songs that they are in or sing. And some movie stars just sound really dumb when they are on interviews and stuff but I think that may be more a part of their image then how some of them really are. Not that they are all dumb or without their own personality but some times it has to do with the way the world perceives them. I know on some shows or movies that I hated the character that they played so I automatically assume that they are like the character. Which most likely they are not but it just kinda seems like why would you play that person if you aren't like that, you know?

Then there are trolls who make it hard for anyone to express a negative opinion without getting flamed. I think most people assume you are a troll if you go to a fansite for particular celebrity just to rag on that celebrity. The fact is that most detractors don't try to have intelligent discourse about the celebrity's talent or what have you. These people intentionally make inflammatory statements just to annoy other people and generally endeavor to be the biggest asshats ever because they have nothing more interesting to do. I'm not saying you do that, but there are a lot of people that do this sort of thing. Thus, the celebrity's fans are disinclined to be receptive to any negative opinions, which unfortunately includes even those that may be valid.

I'm going to guess you only get that accusation when you don't like a celebrity of the same sex as you, right? lol. What happens when you don't like a celebrity of the opposite sex, are you still 'jealous'? Maybe of their fame and success? Well if that were true you'd be jealous of all of them.
The reason why others feel hurt when you don't like the same people (or things) they do might be because not only are you judging their 'hero' poorly, but their own judgment.
When someone tells you they think "X" is the coolest, how do you react? Are you very negative? Do you just criticize "X" or also the person you're talking to? If so, maybe try being more tactful. Remember, ohers have just as much right to their own opinions as you do, even if they're completely wrong!

Because most people are crazy over celebrities. Those celebrities are just normal people making a good living . Theres nothing to be jealous about cause they have problem too are much as regular people. Like they say the more money you make the more problems you get !

Because you can't hate someone you don't know personally.
Did you have lunch with them?
Did you talk one on one with them?
I can say I don't like the guy across town because I saw him a couple times and I didn't like the way I saw him smile and laugh at so and so.. but that doesn't mean I know him well enough to say Wow I don't like him!
To dislike someone personally, you have to know them personally.
Otherwise it's based on speculation.
People say you might be jealous because why hate someone you don't know?

So you are saying "if it's in the media it has to be true?"

If you base your opinion about people by how the media betrays them, then that's your choice of perception but still not based on fact.

Generally I think, when you attack a celebrity that someone else really likes, they feel like you are attacking them in some way. That you think they are stupid for liking them, or that they have bad taste. What makes this world interesting is that we don't all agree. I am allowed to like or not like someone or something and it has NOTHING to do with whether or not someone else likes or dislikes them. Unfortuanately when we are less mature, it feels like a personal insult or slam to have someone dislike something we like so much!
