"Probably, It's your thinking." This answer may seem insignificant to you, but, there are some very basic reasons that have to do with your tendencies toward incoherent thoughts and regretable actions. Look further into my claims. It's easier on you to read it for yourself rather than some stranger lay your life bare in a setting where others can see you at a weak moment as your sentence implies.
Best of luck to you!

The behaviour is meeting some need for you, even if it also causes problems. Try to understand what that need is and look for other ways to meet it. Sometimes that means going further and looking for the causes of the need and working on those.
So if the behaviour you want to change is coming from, say, insecurity, then look for other ways to boost your confidence and feel better about yourself. It will help to look for both short- and long-term solutions.
The old patterns can sometimes become more and more tenacious as you're making progress against them. It's like they're fighting for their existence. The trick is to recognise this for what it is and keep on working with it.

It is hard for us to break our old behaviours because we are comfortable there. It has become easy. This is called change-behavior. Somehow we have relied on not so healthy coping mechanisms to get by. Mine used to be terrible anger, but I have gotten past that and my life is much happier because of it, not to mention some fortunate chaps that I do not yell at, lol.

Because it takes time.. We are slow leaners.. You see we keep on committing our mistakes over and over again.. We just don't learn from our mistakes sometimes.. That's why we always have to be reminded.. But it's your choice at the end.. If you want to do the same mistake again.. But guess what we still learn a bit from them.. Sometimes mistakes happens for a reason.. There would be a lot of struggles to come to challenge your obedience and faith to god.. To make us more of a better person..

because we have a sinful nature. We are born with a sinful and selfish nature. Our flesh (our human nature) always wants to take the easiest path, and very often it's the wrong path as well.
God didn't create us that way (when He created Adam), but we chose (in Adam) to disobey Him and chose sin, and therefore Adam became sinful and since we are his children (descendants), we also have that sin-nature that we inherited from him. This is also why we die, because we sin. The Bible says that sin entered the human race through Adam, and death entered through sin. Because Adam chose to sin, he (and all those who came as his descendants) also now are born to die.
That said, we CAN change with God's help through Christ. There are several types of bondage that can't be broken by mere human means, but only with God's help. Those are such bondages as homosexuality, heroin addiction, etc. The chains of anything, any vice or perversion or enslavement to anything can be broken through the power of Christ, and you can be freed from these enslaving addictions.

breaking life long habits is very hard for anyone to do. after all, u'v been doing what ever you've been doing for sooo long now, it must feel weird to suddenly stop. i suggest u find some sort of inner motivation to break away from whatever the habit is. like turn to god for strength or help.

Humans are creatures of habit. They dont like change for the most part. So when you do, it is shown and noticed and most of the time welcomed by all.

Because we don't want to get away from our comfort zone. That's our greatest fear. Where there's risk, there's a reward.
