I prefer a couple of lesser known antivirus programs...Kaspersky and Bit Defender...thorough, and a lot quicker than Norton/Symantec. I don't use Outlook or anything similar-all my mail is web-based, so I pretty much use the sites' spam filters (Yahoo's is actually pretty good, or is it that I've been here so long?...Hotmail was good for a while, but seems to be slipping again). Try download.com's review section, and also Consumer Reports did an in-depth rating a few months ago that may be on their site www.consumerreports.org. For antispy, I stick with Ad-Aware and Spybot S&D (with Spybot, install the advanced options and activate Tea Timer), and also WIndows Defender. Spyware Blaster and Spyware Guard are also very useful (and tiny) programs. Most important, no matter what you use, make sure to keep it updated.

Hi,Norton and Mcafee are good, but you should pay for the software.

i also recommand you to use firefox with Google toolbar, which can disable the virus, becasue the virus can only run on IE.

firefox can block any any poppus and disable any virus and spyware, adware on webpage, so, firefox is much safer than IE. as you know, most of the virus is spread throught internet and webpage.

firefox is much smaller than IE, so i run faster than IE.

download firefox for free:

hello
for virus i suggest you avast http://www.avast.com
its free virus detector ,remover for home edition use ,also it has the virus removers at more high level as networks and servers .the most ability of avast that i so like it ,is that it is update every when you come in Internet ,it means by the second you will be virus list updated
please combine avast with one proper firewall as zonealarm ,it is free one too,it will ask you that what program you must let to access the Internet and your resources too and what program restricted to access them, but also it has built in mechanism to find it ,but it will learn more by your orders , http://www.zonelabs.com/store/content/company/products/znalm/freeDownload.jsp?dc=12bms&ctry=US&lang=en&lid=staticcomp_za
and after them i suggest you to use Microsoft anti spy-wares that is in the Microsoft.com ,but dear friend if your windows isn't from Microsoft seller and you are using it unregistered ,never mind Microsoft ,the best choice in this way is every good spy-ware ,but i think lavasoft Ad-Aware SE is good selection, you can find it in great site download.com by this address http://www.download.com/3000-2144-10045910.html or the main producer .

If you go to this site and read, you will be able to make an informed and intelligent decision about the programs needed to protect your computer. Every person that answers will have a different opinion as to what you need. Remember, OPINIONS ARE LIKE A**HOLES! Everybody has one. This is a great site and is explained in plain English. Maybe being a UK site explains that.

Norton anti-virus is the best in my opinion, and the Symantec products in general are very good (Norton is a Symantec product now).

Norton. McAFEE seem to be used the most, but zone alarm seems to have TOP ratings and is free.
