I have their address and phone number, but do not wish to call, because I am afraid he may be married, and do not want to start any problems for him if he is. He was my first love, and I am happily married, but have often wondered about him over the years. What would be the best way for me to handle this situation?

Call him. Whoever answers, say, "Hi! I'm an old friend, and came across Joe's number. Thought it would be a hoot to catch up with him. Is he in?"

Look up his name on myspace, maybe. Then you can add him as a friend, or if possible, just find his email address. You probably don't want to add him as your first friend, as that would seem a bit stalkerish maybe.
Or just call him, it won't hurt.
