Yeah, yeah. I know I'm a stupid, pathetic Dunkin Donuts worker who has a combined IQ and GPA lower than the amount of donuts you're trying to buy.
However, I can honestly say that even when I'm out and about, I see so many people being rude to waitresses/waiters/coffee bitches/ sandwich slaves that it makes me ill. You can't expect someone to be happy about the fact that they're stuck for an extended amount of time stuffing more food into fat, angry, over heated individual's drooling mouths. However, the difference here is, there is no opportunity for me to go into where you work, and make it a living hell for you. I don't know where a lot of the people who come into the dump where I work get off, did they start working as the CEO for Douchebag Inc at 16? I don't think so. Ahh.. off to work.
I guess the question is... why oh why can't more people be polite? Seriously, it's a two dollar cup of coffee, take one for the team and just smile and leave. I know I do.

When I worked in the food industry I got the impression that people think they are better than the person waiting on them. For some reason they think that is the only job you are qualified for, not knowing that the job itself is NOT easy, because you have to put up with *ssholes all day. For those of you reading this(and you know who you are) the next time you treat a restaurant employee with disrespect, know that we are talking about what a Pr*ck or B*tch you were as SOON as you walk away. So the joke is really on you not us!!

having been in, and happily to have left, the restaurant/ food business on and off for 25 yrs., my take is that one reason people are so rude in restaurants is that when they come in they are hungry and their blood sugar is low. we all know how crabby this makes us. but mostly it's just people blaming others for their miserable lives. i made up a rhyme when i was a waiter. it goes, "never be rude to anyone who touches your food." truly. if you think that you've put that waiter or waitress in their place by embarrassing them at your table? no, no, don't think that they haven't gone into the kitchen and spit in your food. take heed, the next time you are blatantly rude to someone who is handling your food.
And yes, i believe that everyone should be required to work in the food business for 6 mos. at some point to get a taste of what it's like.

I agree and if they cant be nice they should make there own cofee. Im sure that when they are at home they make mistakes and need to make a new cup or burn there food or spill there water on themselves they just dont realize that they do these things and are just like everyone else. But sometimes you can never be to carefull dont piss off the burger maker or you might get somthing else extra.

I know what you mean, I used to deliver pizzas (many years ago now) and recently worked in a call centre. A lot of customers are obnoxious and seem to think they have the right to be rude, sarcastic, nasty etc to customer service staff (and by that I mean anyone dealing with customers day to day). Luckily they are in the minority.
I like to imagine that one day we will have a 'customer service worker day' where anyone dealing with customers can say what they want to the rude ones out there, all day long. Oh what bliss!

I never understood rude people either. Maybe it's the classic idea that in order to make yourself feel better, you have to belittle other people...and who better to do this to than a complete stranger who is serving you? You're obviously below them....whatever. Just know that they aren't worth your time worrying over. I'm sorry that people can't treat you right. Just spit in their coffee next time. hehe.

People could certainly be more polite, but you cannot make them be more polite. You can only control yourself. So just ignore all of the idiots out there and be focused on your job. Venting does help thought lol.

people are just pissed because they have to wait for something they want... I know, 5 minutes for fast food!! they need to get over it - it's fast food, not instant food.
and politeness is.... going out of fashion, I guess you could say...
