By attitude I am referring more to the media or general public. Please describe your perception of the attitude overall.

By other nations I do not necessarily or categorically mean Islamic or Middle Eastern Countries, I am including all nations external to the US. I am interested in Central and South America, and Australiasian nations as well.

By why, I would like to know why you have this opinion, and also why you think the attitude you have observed and described prevails.

Honestly, a lot of the U.S. (general public) don't think of other countries and just try to live their lives. Getting work done, to get the paycheck, to get food, to pay rent, to have fun.. *rinse repeat*
The media just likes to play with us to get ratings.

When you speak of the Media or General Public it seems to me that they perceive it in to different ways. the Media perceives everything that they see is just that, from a Media point of view. The General Public another story. This is why I feel this way. The Media has a story to tell and they seem to get it out very clear, maybe sometimes to clear, giving up secrets that other countries need not know about so quickly. So the Media plays a big role in exploiting it's own self and the General Public as well.I think the General Public over all in the USA seems to have a pretty fair op pinion about other Countries. But then how can one speak for everyone? This would be socially. And as far as Politically, then I'd say that it's not going as well as we would I all like to say it's going. I do think it does prevails to what degree who knows?

The American media's perspective toward other countries is ignorant and arrogant. Most Americans believe they are superior for one reason or another. The American media is a perfect "random sample" of the ignorance and arrogance that persists and perpetuates itself by even more ignorance and arrogance. tman's answer is a perfect example.

I think most Americans are all about "Live and Let Live". The government doesn't really reflect the attitude of the average American.

I picture Uncle Sam taking a bite out of the Earth, like an apple, and saying "just try and stop us."
