Lincoln, easy. Because he presided over keeping a country focused on reunification. He didn't waver while in the gunsights of his enemies. He stood by principles when many would not. Most importantly, he brought FREEDOM TO THE SLAVES!! Come on.
Kennedy was famous for his percieved leadership, but there wasn't much to lead. He lead us INTO the Vietnam War. He left us LBJ who was a racist, not my opinion, listen to his White House tapes. He won by the slimmest margin in history at the time. He was this close to losing to Nixon.

Kennedy! I wasn't around for Lincoln and the Civil War had more to do with economics than it had to do with slaves!

Kennedy. He did an excellent job of keeping the nation calm at a time when they should have been constantly afraid of a nuclear bomb. Bush, on the other hand, as allowed and even perpetuated a culture of fear.
