Let no of white keys= W,

Therefore, 7 * 5 +1 + W= 88,
Or, W = 88 -35-1 =52

total black keys = 7 * 5 +1 = something

white keys = 88 - something

Figure out how many black keys there are - 7 octives times 5 black keys in each octive is 35, plus the one extra black key is 36. Subtract the number of black keys from the total number of keys to get the number of white keys..
