I know exactly what you are talking about. Cancer runs on my mother's side. I lost my mother, grandma, aunts, and uncles from cancer. All on my mother's side. All 3 of my cousins had breast cancer and it's very scary. I'm only 36 and I get a mamagram and pap smear every year. It's the only way of finding out for sure. Keep up your faith. It does help.

I just saw a show on genetic testing, insurance may cover that.
You may want to check into that.
Probably the best you can do is the best anyone can do, a low fat vegetarian diet (don't worry it's NOT boring at all... I've been a veg for 30yrs now NO PROBLEM), no smoking (of course), yearly checkups and 20-30 min cardio workouts (the elliptical trainer with the moving hand grips at the gym is a great and easy workout btw). A baby aspirin a day and a multivitamin (both on a full stomach) is a good idea too. The benign Pituitary lesion is probably not a genetic concern as your MD probably told you.
One can not emphasize enough that smoking is probably the WORST thing you could do to your body.
You may want to speak to a good oncologist for more information... don't stress, it's just for information (best to speak to a female doc as a lot of male oncologists can be overly "clinical", no question there)

I think you should be having check-ups with a Breast Cancer Doctor - not a gynecologist. There are specialists for Diseases of the Breast and that is who should be doing your exams.
They will give you blood tests for Tumor Markers, the Cancer Gene and other things. In addition to a Mammogram, they may want to send you for an MRI of your breasts, or even a CT scan.
Even though you have not had cancer, I really think you need to have your 6 months exams done by a specialist in this area because of your family history.
I had breast cancer last year - lumpectomy and radiation. I found a fantastic Doctor who specializes in Disease of the Breast. I have reached my one year point, and so far everything is good.
I see the doctor often, and I follow an organic/holistic health plan.
You might want to check out

they have lots of info on using holistic medicine for breast cancer.

You may carry the gene for breast cancer. Two genes are BRCA1 and BRCA2. Women with a BRCA mutation have a 33-50% risk of developing breast cancer by age 50 and a 56-87% risk by age 70. They have a 27-44% chance of developing ovarian cancer by age 70. Half of all women with a hereditary risk of breast and ovarian cancers inherited the risk from their fathers, not their mothers. Please ask your doctor about this test. For you and any sisters that you may have. If you do have the gene, there are preventative medication and surgical options that you can consider. And if you do not have the gene, there is peace of mind. No matter what the test results would show, you should be diligent at monthly breast self-exams and see a breast specialist every 6 months to 1 year.

maximum suitable ingredient to do is stay valuable. I study a learn as quickly as that reported people who the two have maximum cancers, or run the possibility of having maximum cancers and stay valuable are greater in all likelihood to recover from the affliction or no longer get it in any respect. in case you wind up having maximum cancers purely remember, that no be counted what the wellbeing care expert says, you're a man or woman, and you have no longer have been given an expiration date. I actual hate docs that provide "expiration dates" to maximum cancers sufferers. stay as valuable as attainable, take the remedies the wellbeing care expert exhibits, and purely stay your actual looking you're able to in spite of in case you probably did no longer have maximum cancers. that's all you're able to do.
