In Detroit the temperature is 69 degrees F and is rising at a rate of 2 degrees F per hour. In Atlanta the temperature is 84 degrees F and is falling at a rate of 3 degrees F per hour. If the temperatures continue to change at the same rates, how long will it be befire the temperatures are the same?

Let the time taken for the two temperatures to be equal= t
Therefore,

69 + 2*t = 84 - 3*t
or, 5*t = 15
or, t =3 hours

69, 71, 73, 75
thats it, in three hours arethe same.
