iTunes is giving me a hard time.
So is there another way I can get music onto my Ipod without Itunes?

No, but u can do it manually, so u download the songs on LimeWire, and u transfer them manually to the iPod drive located in My Computer, u have to activate the "I will add songs manually" or something like that on your iTunes first.

You can use any other music download service you like that has songs in MP3 format. However, once you download desired songs, they have to be imported into the iTunes if you want them to be transferred into your iPod. To make a long story short, YES you can downloading songs elsewhere but NO there is no any other software ( that I am aware of) that enables transferring and syncing songs with your iPod.

Napster....but I think you have to pay for it monthly....and I'm not sure how much the songs cost, either.
