normally id flay you alive for that statement but you do have a good point that you failed to make.... kobe carried a lakers team that wouldve lost 77 games without him to the playoffs no mean feat although lebron took a worse cavs team and almost beat the pistons in the second round.... anyways the lakers, the press, the fans, and phil all whined that kobe shot too much and wouldnt pass.... now when kobe stopped shooting and passed the ball ask the undeserving mvp steve nash what happened to the lakers... he will tell you they colapsed and lost because no one else on that roster could shoot the broad side of a blimp hanger from 3 feet away with a gatling cannon so yes kobe deserves respect yes he is easilly the best "big market" player and yes he has the right to rheem every frontrunner lakers fan who whined at him but he will NEVER be on the level of shaquille oneal dwayne wade or lebron james just like micheal would never be that good in his prime today kobe is out aging basketball

hes nice but he has almost all the pieces he has on the team but he never lets them show their stuff he always steals the show with his 81 point performance and his 30.-plus points again taking over half the shots as the entire team its like the los angeles kobes honestly i had some respect for kobe until he raped that white chick seriously how is vanessa lucky she got cheated on for a white chick after that incident i guess i lost all respect for him yeah he a good player but the way he with the team is just a one man show

Becuz the dispute with Shaq and Kobe everyone is on Shaq side and cuz of raping that girl no one like him. Oh yeah and the only reason Vanessa is still with him is cuz he bought her a $4 million dollar ring.

KOBE IS NOT SELFISH!!! He just wants to win. What should he do, pass more and lose every game? He's played 8 years and no one ever said anything about him being selfish because he had quality teammates. This year (only 1 year) and people want to drag his great NBA career in the mud. I believe they are just haters. He's the star on the Lakers team and somebody has to take the blame.

Some hate him because of 'That Nite' with some blonde, I say judge the man by what he does on the basketball court. He did apologize for his mistake years ago--and notice that his hott wife Vanessa stood by her man.

i think everyone hates him as a person because of his "taddle-tale" status. A grown man shouldnt be taddling on other men because he got caught doing something. But yes, he is the best in the game right now. Period. and i like the guy

i would certainly agree that kobe is the best one-on-one player right now ... but in terms of personality, leadership, respect, , ego, teamwork and a lot of other things ... maybe one of the worst ...

why are so many haters answering this.
and learn how to spell j.r. rider's name.
kobe is one of the best, if not the best player in the league.
he can score from anywhere on the court, which dwyane wade can not. his FT% is in the mid-high 80s, which both wade and lebron cannot claim quite yet, and he is certainly a better defender than lebron, though wade is a quality defender as well.
kobe's intensity for the game is unmatched.
PERIOD.
