Ok, this might sound pretty boring to you, but I asked a question less than an hour ago, and I didn't think anyone would know the answer... and less than 5 minutes later, someone gave me the answer I had been waiting for for so many years... I couldn't remember the name of a video game I used to play with when I was a kid... the answer brought back many good memories... that was amazing! What about you?

On my seventh birthday, the first men landed on the moon. I remember being angry as my family and friends watched Neil Armstrong take "one small step for a man, and one giant step for mankind" on TV as I was alone at the table with my birthday cake. Since then, I've been fascinated by the moon. I have a telescope through which I occasionally gaze at the moon and try to imagine exactly where all of the astronauts left their footprints. At night, I'll pause to peek at the sky to confirm the presence of the moon and marvel at this giant rock parading across our sky. This seems silly to most people I explain this to. And, it is unlikely that I will ever fully explain my affection for the moon. My wife thinks I am crazy, and I understand that everyone reading this won't know where I am coming from with my mild obsession with our closest heavenly body. But, when I look at the moon, brings back memories of a seven year old boy who had friends, a family who loved him, toys, a home, and a secret desire to be one of those men who touched down on the Sea of Tranquility.

Second most amazing thing to ever happen to me:

--When I was 12 going on 13, living down in Alabama, there were at least three mornings in the same year where I literally *woke up* levitating. As in, I was wide awake, and floating about 4-6 inches off the bed....of course I couldn't move too much without losing it and falling down to the bed, and since I was a fat, chubby kid, that made a bit of racket and got me in trouble, but still...

you know what it feels like when you line up two refrigerator magnets so that the like poles are lined up and repelling? THAT is what it felt like.

And the Most Amazing thing:

--I tried to committ suicide when I was about 22....my mother had a really fierce, drunken knock-down dragout argument with me, I guess because I had the nerve to come home to *my family too* for the summer, during summer break from college....I lost my temper and patience with my mother and she all but called me a rapist and a murderer right to my face, when all that happened was that a) she tried to hit me and I blocked it, and b) in response to her attack I flipped a kitchen table over in her direction in disgust.

But I digress...point is she laid a massive mind-trip on me, when she was the one trying to knock me out in the first place. So I raided the medicine cabinet....I was going to die.

I took her anti-emphysema meds. She was on 1,000 milligrams a day of a vasodilatory breathing aide so toxic she needed blood work done every month while she was on it....I took her entire remaining 29 day supply.

I was up and awake and wandering around randomly in a park and adjacent graveyard for three days straight. On the last day, I was too terrified to move for much of the day....I felt like my heart was going to explode.

My heart should have stopped. My liver should have died.

Instead, I got a vision, lots of seemingly friendly lights coming to me, and an oddly distant voice telling me over and over again, "Don't die, we have plans for you."

And that was it. No telling who the "we" was or anything, not sure if it was God, or someone else entirely....

But yeah, I should be dead as a stone already. The amazing thing is that I am around to pester you guys. :P

Yes, My aunt gave away a baby boy for adoption, he then got in touch w/my family many years later and he happened to live in the same housing I did!!! My family lives in OH and we lived in MD. This is my new first cousin and I was the first one to meet him since we were the only ones living in MD. In fact our houses were the attached type town houses (military housing) and ours were the same color on the same end! true story. He is also just a few months older than me and was in the Air Force like me.
