Hi, I agree with you. This can be a great learning tool and fun at the same time. I'm wondering if it wouldn't work better if we put a little more thought when we ask a question and also when we answer a question. I joined about 2 weeks ago and already I see where certain people are grouping together with a specific agenda. Also some are using it for sexual questions they think will shock us. Some don't seem concerned with any thing else but to criticize one religion or another. Another one is being critical about whether some ones spelling or grammar is correct. Some times, I wonder whether I want to ever sign in again, but I do because I think I may be of help to someone. Thanks for asking a good question that allowed me to vent a little.

Some people ask obnoxious questions, those are the ones that deserve the abrasive answers.

Because people (especially children in general who this place attracts ad nasuem) need to "feel cool" about themselves and abrasiveness gives them a feeling of undue superiority that in facts makes them look like the idiots they are.

I totally agree with your question i just asked a similar question my self the main thing i said was if you cannot handle the heat get out of yahoo answers that is what i say

I think if your questions are serious and not belittling to another's beliefs or opinions, then you will probably get a serious answer.
For all the others, just tune them out.
You just keep right on asking.
