I do not understand why some feel a need to explain life. I ask why can we not just exist without some other to help us along? I tend to lean towards the idea of humans being so power hungry yet vunerable at the same time. Any other ideas???

Now I have had many awnsers but no one seems to under stand this question I dont need a purpose for my self nor am I afraid of death. I will welcome death when it comes with open arms and a smile. The purpose in my life is as it is for all species on earth to survive and learn. Many people have tried and in my eyes failed to define why we are here living and thinking. I'm wondering if it is a god, wherever and whatever he or she or it even is, or man the human brain that has the purpose of life. If everone on earth agreed we were made of one thing and our purpose was one other thing would it really be?? When I look at the world today I see millions of things man did not create things that are "naturally" here humans are part of that. Yet humans make soo much in the world ourselfs. Our bodies unlike other creatures have basicly stopped evolving and our mind continue to learn and grow with every generation so who then can define us human break the rules we set out to have order.

People are weak. They can't handle that life exists without some fundamental meaning, so they invent one. Or rather, they invent the existence of one.

There is a collective concious that all living people share a connection through. Sometimes you are meant to hear something someone said, sometimes you are like the pagans who did not understand the parables of Jesus. Everything that is said must be for a purpose to someone somewhere, or it could not have come to pass. Clearly you have been moved, although I myself find your reaction to be a moving more towards being close-minded rather than finding your own version of what works (to provide meaning and purpose to your life) from the abundance that is around you.

A person who DOES NOT SEE can not define the meaning of existence.
Existence is: The Creator experiencing the Creation.

Because "just existing" is just an endorsement of the status quo.
The ideas you're having now, are not your own.

And you also know people are prone to sweeping error.

We cannot simply live our lives, detached, uncritical, without also being responsible for all the effects of ignorance -- though it may be a social suburban virtue to do so.

I think it's because our brains were made to be analytical. It's only human to want to dissect our experiences and to see what makes us and the world around us tick. If we hadn't been a curious species we wouldn't have survived.

no matter what our existence will vanish, under the passage of time, we can only leave a faint mark by our children and the wisdom we pass down to the next generation

Amen brother. People so desperately seek a meaning for life. My question for them is, why does life need an explanation?

most recently i've been thinking that many of some people's puzzlements, questions about life, are related to our death, in
terms of accepting it, dealing with it, truly realizing completely
that it will happen, and we don't have concrete evidence of
what's next...i think it's under the surface, as we joke about it,
feign courage and strength, it's there, driving us to think and act
in certain ways...

I think that we need to define existence for ourselves, and if you choose not to define it, then ok.

Define thyself and one would presumably know, if you couldn't you can't and if you can you sometimes don't.
