They are BOTH worn on the left hand 3rd finger because it olden days it was said that the main artery or vein that runs to the heart runs down to this finger or thru it so the closest way to hold someone to your heart was thru THAT finger...

BOTH rings are worn on left hand third finger. At the time of the wedding, the wedding band is added to the engagement ring.

its old tradition from Christ and Jews. in this time we changed it on one hand but in Europe some people are wearing rings in the way as you told.
