You will need to find out what the resistance of the pellet in the ignition key is, then cut the 2 wires that come from the ignition lock cyl and connect the resistor on the vehicle side of the wiring...or just buy a new ignition lock cyl as that is what's most likely wrong. The 2 small wires from the lock cyl break and prevent the engine from cranking.
There is a small chance that just the key is bad...try another key if you have one. The dealer has a tool that will read a code # from the key. If the tool reads the code OK, then the key is fine.

If the car came as an RS, it doesn't matter what you do to it. It will always be an RS. You can change the emblems, etc, but if you try to sell it as a Z/28, that is fraud, and you could end up in jail if the buyer is pissed off enough. In 1992 they were all Z/28's. They no longer were called IROC's.

I do not know, but my little brother recently bought a 91 camaro rs that somone had broken into and tried to steal. He had to buy a whole new steering column. He is going to have to have the car towed to a shop and have the electrical wiring hooked up properly b/c the color coding on the car and the new column were not the same. Hopefully when he gets all that fixed it will start! The car looks awesome, he just can't get it to start.

You can't! You have got to get power to something like one of the tail lights or anything you can hook a 12 volt supply to. This will power it up enough to use the key to get in. I think most of them has a place somewhere on the car to hook a power supply for this reason. Call a dealer, they should know!

You can disconnect your battery and then turn the key to the on position as if you just started the vehicle. Then reconnect the battery and then start your car and that should work, your car will crank and start.
